Biography
Marie [Maria] Lilli Margarete Bätge, b. Tallinn, m. Herr Steinberg, had one daughter, Karin M. Steinberg; then m. Dr. Max Israel Löwenstein (later Max Israel Loewenstein) in 1925; their son Ernst Heinrich Löwenstein (later Henry Lowenstein) b. July 4, 1925 was sent from Berlin to to England on the Kindertransport in 1939; the rest of the family emigrated to the United States in 1946, where they were joined by their son in 1947. __ __ __Her birth and baptismal certificate : B333.02.0001.0002.00007 (Marie Lilli Margarete Bätge, b. Correspondence, 1939-1984
Contains correspondence, envelopes, picture postcards and notes. Most of the correspondence is in German, but the picture postcards are in English and have photos, circa 1900, but cards were mailed in January-March of 1960 from Williamsport, Pennsylvania to Maria in Denver. There is no signature from the sender on the postcards. One letter in English written to the Lowenstein family in Berlin from a Rita (?) in Birmingham, England.
Sketchbook, circa 1950s
One Winsor Spiral Sketchbook, size 5 x 8, filled with pencil sketches of people, buildings, landscapes and still-life’s. One sketch is of Losch Farm Machinery which was located in Mansfield, PA about 50 miles north of Williamsport. Sketch book is not dated but is identical to sketchbook dated 1956. Stamped "Plankenhorn Stationary Co. Williamsport 2, PA" with "20" written in top right corner of front cover; presumably it was priced at 20 cents.

One Winsor Spiral Sketchbook, size 6 x 9, filled with pencil sketches of people, buildings, and street scenes. The last page has an itinerary of Maria's travel from July 16, 59-July 27, 59. Stamped "Plankenhorn Stationary Co. Williamsport 2, PA" with "25" written in top left corner of front cover; presumably it was priced at 25 cents.
