Marie [Maria] Lilli Margarete Bätge, b. Tallinn, m. Herr Steinberg, had one daughter, Karin M. Steinberg; then m. Dr. Max Israel Löwenstein (later Max Israel Loewenstein) in 1925; their son Ernst Heinrich Löwenstein (later Henry Lowenstein) b. Middlesex sketch book with "Trip to S. W. Colorado 1970" written in pencil across top of cover. Lower right hand corner has a Target price tag for 35 cents. The back of the sketch book has 17 pages of journal entries from the trip dated August 15-30. Book filled with pencil and marker sketches of people, buildings, landscapes and still-life’s.

Abstract

Pencil sketch on tracing paper of a woman on a doorstep with a milk bottle in one hand and the outstretched holding money (presumably) toward the milkman. The milkman has a milk crate of bottles in each hand and his head is turned back toward the woman on the doorstep. The quotation at the bottom of the sketch states "Think we could strike a deal?"
