Hand-carved Ivory Fan, between 1937-1941
Abstract
A hand carved, ivory fan held together at the base with a copper D-shaped ring that has two mother-of-pearl circular studs at the outer edge of each side. Each of the interior fan supports are carved on one side. The fan fabric is white silk organza with white appliquéd lace on the top side of fabric. The lace appliqués are of flowers and bows and there are three painted floral scenes between the lace work. Within the painted and lace work floral patterns are silver sequins in differing sizes. The bottom edge of the organza is finished in a serpentine lace trim.
