Letter from C.D. Spivak to Wm. A. Green, 1908 May 23

Identifier: B002.01.0099.0011.00004

Two-page typed letter from Dr. C.D. Spivak to Mr. Wm. A. Green and dated May 23, 1908. Explains burial expenses, "To 1 grave $25.00, undertaker 10.00, digging, 4.00, washing body 2.50, shroud 3.00, Total 44.50." States $25.00 grave fee is not charged unless a monument is put on the grave, that bills are sent to relatives and friends, but if a reply comes back saying one cannot pay the fees, correspondence ceases and "the matter is closed." Also states Leon A. Schwartzman had $15.40 on him when he died and this was applied to burial expenses and $3.50 was additionally charged because body was delivered to wrong undertaker and had to be taken to correct cite, and that an earlier letter sent to Mr. Jonessoff regarding burial was thought to have closed funeral expenses for Mr. Schwartzman. Letter is not signed, but "Secretary" is typed at the bottom.
