Black Velvet Half Hat with Veil, circa 1955
Abstract
A black velvet half- or headband-hat with a black veil draped from the middle of hte front of the frame. The wire and cardboard frame is covered with black velvet that has been glued and stapled on over a black nylon lining, and is shaped like an off-center bow, with a knot section in the middle, a large loop on the right with a tail poking through the loop, and a single, large, slightly pointed piece on the left. The frame is cruved to fit around the front of the head. The veil falls past the wearer's nose. The frame is 5cm wide at the middle and 15.5cm at the widest point. The veil is 27cm long and reaches 36cm across.
