Biographical / Historical
David Taylor began choreographing in the 1970s. By 1979 he founded David Taylor Dance Theatre, an innovative contemporary ballet company. David has created hundreds of work, primarily focused on ancient cultures, ritualistic dance, and an interest in multimedia artistic collaborations. The David Taylor's guidance, the company performed new and original works, worked with internationally recognized choreographers, and toured the United States. In 1997, David and his company received the State of Colorado's Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts. He has served as an adjunct faculty member at Colorado State University, teaching ballet and sacred dance classes. David founded Zikr Dance Ensemble in 2009 as in 2019, still serves as Artistic Director.
