Biographical / Historical
Nancy Spanier grew up on New York and had the opportunity to dance with Alfredo Corvino, Margaret Craske, Paal Lang, Jose Limon, and Anna Sokolow. She toured with the Limon Company while still in high school and danced in the Helen Tamaris Company. She studied at Connecticut College and Julliard and received her Masters from Mills College. Nancy began teaching at the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1969. She formed the Nancy Spanier Dance Theatre as a showcase for choreographic works. Nancy retired from CU in 2003.
