Abstract

Box contains five (5) distinct items, ninety-eight (98) broadsides and three (3) prints. Descriptions are as follows: 1. One 11 x 14 print file folder - Moritz, John, and Lee Chapman. [Tansy Christmas Gift]. Three prints by Lee Chapman. Four broadsides by John Moritz (one is a duplicate, but is not signed). This is from an edition of 50 copies and has been designated a Christmas gift to the friends of Tansy. Inscribed and signed to Ken Irby by Moritz. Tansy Press, 1990. 2. One 8.5 x 11 print file folder - Moritz, John. On Whether or Not the Pig Is Indigenous to the New World. 11 x 8 1/2 inches. Inscribed and signed to Ken Irby. Tansy Press, [1988?]. 3. Portfolio in plastic bag - Chasin, Helen, William Corbett and others. Peace Feelers. Suite of 16 broadsides (2 copies of "I Have") in printed cover folder and printed interior folder. The edition consists of 80 numbered copies, this copy is unnumbered. “The occasion for Peace Feelers was two weeks of Artists Against Racism and the War activity in May [1968] throughout Boston. An earlier broadside edition of these poems on colored paper was distributed free at poetry readings at that time.” The poets are: Helen Chasin, William Corbett, Sam Cornish, Arthur Freeman, Sidney Goldfarb, Paul Hannigan, Fanny Howe, Ron Loewinsohn, Gail Mazur, Geoffrey Movius, Yvonne Ruelas, Kathleen Spivak, Richard Tillinghast, Andrew Wiley, and Ruth Whitman. Impressions Workshop, 1968. 4. One box with Pluto in Motion Studios graphic on top - Corbett, William and Michael Gizzi, eds. Writing for Bernadette. Porfolio of twenty-five 8 1/2 x 11 inch broadsides and title page contained in an unprinted envelope within a box with a cover image by Joe Brainard. The set was issued in an edition of twenty-six lettered copies and three H.C. This is H.C. copy 3. The poets include: John Ashbery, Paul Auster, Russell Banks, Bill Berkson, Frank Bidart, Clark Coolidge, William Corbett, Robert Creeley, Kenward Elmslie, Allen Ginsberg, Michael Gizzi, Barbara Guest, Lyn Hejinian, Susan Howe, Fanny Howe, Ann Lauterbach, Ron Padgett, Michael Palmer, Tom Raworth, James Schuyler, Charles Simic, Anne Waldman, Rosemary Waldrop, Lewis Warsh, and Geoffrey Young. The Figures, 1995. 5. One custom book portfolio in plastic bag - Corbett, William, Michael Gizzi, and Joseph Torra, eds. Pressed Wafer Broadsides for John Wieners. Portfolio containing introductory statement by William Corbett along with fifty-two broadsides each 8 1/2 x 11 inches and signed by the poets (with the exception of Robert Duncan and Edward Dorn). The portfolio was issued in an edition of twenty-six lettered copies (this copy unlettered). The proceeds from the sale went to fund the first annual Pressed Wafer Lifetime Achievement Award, which was presented to John Wieners on April 8, 2000, in Boston.
