Abstract

Jessica Benedict-Gordon describes what is was like growing up in Aspen, Colorado, a mining community that has grown into a ski resort town. She describes the biggest change to Aspen as the types of people going into details of how people as well as buildings and businesses have changed during her life time. She also describes the problems she feels Aspen faces and how it is different from her parents era.

Biographical / Historical

Jessica Benedict-Gordon, one of four adopted children of Fabi and Fritz Benedict, was born around 1957 and raised in Aspen, Colorado. Her father, Fritz Benedict was a well known Architect who designed many buildings around Aspen as well as other areas. Her mother, Fabi, was well known for her behind the scenes contributions. Jessica's three siblings are Charlotte, Nicolas, and Emily (who died in 1990). She started her career in the ski industry in retailing and then had her own video business. After she married she became a cabinet-maker, designer, and builder.
