Biographical / Historical
Bio: Polly Marolt, born on September 3, 1902, in Winsted, Connecticut, was named Olive at birth. As a young child, however, she hung out with a neighbor who called her Polly and the name stuck. She taught in Manchester Schools for 13 years and later served as principal of the Washington School. She was first introduced to Aspen from the Wentworths and spent four summers in the area. Marolt met her husband, Steve Marolt, the summer of 1932. They eventually married in New York City on March 29, 1937 but settled in Aspen, CO. The family owned a large grain and cattle ranch at the bottom of Maroon Creek River. Polly Marolt enjoyed horses, hiking, gardening, and traveling. She died on October 13, 1998 at the age of 96.
