Abstract

The eighteenth class in Basic Poetics taught by Allen Ginsberg in 1980 at Naropa. In this class he uses "A Litany in Time of Plague" by Thomas Nashe to discuss cadence and description in poetry. Other poets discussed in this context are Gregory Corso, Jack Kerouac, Louis Zukofsky, and William Carlos Williams whose essay on Alfred Steiglitz is read in class. He ends with a brief comment on Marianne Moore's use of Light Rhymes.
