Abstract

Mrs. Bonnie Pace taught for fifty years, and during those years she taught in many different places and with a variety of people including three different Indian tribes. Interviewed by Cherry Ray on March 10, 1981. Topics discussed in the interview include: Bonnie's family and educational background in Combs, Arkansas; description of transportation in the early 1900's; teaching on the Charokee Reservation; the Cherokee people; goals of the Cherokee school; teaching on the Navajo Reservation; the Navajos as students and their living conditions; Zuni education; the Red Power Movement; changes in the Navajos and the whites who led them; and education today and the goals of the Navajos.
