Oral history interview with Glenn W. Irvin, April 6, 1984., 1984 April 6, 2005 May 5

Mr. Irvin was born in 1913 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He came to Williams, Arizona in 1953 to work for the Grand Canyon Railway. He was employed as a Station Agent first there in Williams, and then in Seligman, Arizona. He relates a fairly complete description of his job responsibilities and the Railroad business. He retired to Bakersfield, California, but returned to Williams in 1973. Interviewed by Al Richmond on April 6, 1984 in Williams, AZ. Other topics discussed include: diesel and steam engines, freight handling, cattle and sheep operations, water hauling to the Grand Canyon, tourism to the Grand Canyon, postal services, land ownership, train numbering and designation, and the close knit community at the Grand Canyon and within the Railroad.
