Abstract
Mr. Melick was born March 30, 1910 in Williams, Arizona. He was educated at Williams High School, the University of Arizona, the University of Wisconsin, and the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Melick returned as a chest surgeon in 1981, and prior to that was a professor of surgery at the College of Medicine at the University of Arizona. He also worked as a surgeon in Phoenix and began his medical career as a General Practitioner in Williams. Interviewed by Al Richmond, April 19, 1984. Topics discussed in the interview include: education; family history; the hospital in Williams; the Grand Canyon Railway Line; his father's medical practice; his mother's financial contributions; his father's work as a physician for the Santa Fe Railroad; the railroad in Williams; accidents on the railroad; and more information about his medical career.
