Abstract
Bury interviews Doug Folsom, husband of the former State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Sarah Folsom, after her death due to a brain tumor. The interview maintains a very personal level of intimacy, and includes not only discussion of Mrs. Folsum's education background, but also her motivation for taking office and her educational philosophy. Mr. Fulsom also discusses her relationship with the press, Governor, legislature, and School Board on both a personal as well as political level. Also mentioned are: Mrs. Folsum's support of minority education (especially in terms of reading programs) as well as the minority support of her efforts while in office; her change of heart after taking office regarding receiving federal aid to support Arizona schools; her dedication and attempts to implementation kindergarten programs within the state.
