Abstract

This reel contains Robert Skotheim speaking at the University of Denver on May 5, 1969 as part of the English Department Lecture Series. The topic of his lecture is totalitarianism--both European and American. Skotheim believes that there is a divide between the American youth born after the 1930's and their elders born before. He believes that those youth were responsible for pointing out totalitarianism within the American system. Additionally, there is substantial discussion of the "old-left" and the "new-left" as well as competing perspectives on totalitarian governments.
