Biographical / Historical

Kim moved to Colorado in 1979 and earned her Master of Arts in Dance from CU. In 1987 she co-founded the Colorado Repertory Dance Company and in 1993, with Kim as Director, the name was changed to Kim Robards Dance (KRD). Among numerous accolades KRD has received both the Governor’s and Mayor’s Awards for Excellence in the Arts, and Kim received a KUSA Channel 9 TV “9 Who Care Award.” Kim has created more than 60 works and her choreography has been shown at Joyce SoHo and the Lincoln Center in NYC. She has been a guest artist for professional companies, festivals, and university dance programs throughout in the US and in China, Scotland, France, and Taiwan. As a Colorado-based artist she has also been on the faculties of Colorado Ballet, Colorado College, Belliston Academy, Arvada Center, Denver Ballet Theater, Classical Ballet Academy, and Dance Arts Centre as well serving in artist-in-residence programs for Young Audiences, ArtReach, Denver Ballet Guild, and the Aesthetic Education Institute. Along with her love of dance, in the past few years Kim has developed a passion for photography.
