Biographical / Historical
Raised in Santa Monica, CA Peter learned to juggle at age 12 from a library book. He appeared as a juggler in the movie Xanadu and toured for 10 years with Airjazz, a Boulder-based trio who performed at Jacob’s Pillow, in New Zealand and Hong Kong, and on national TV in 7 countries including with Johnny Carson in the US. He moved to Boulder and began dance training in 1980 in ballet, modern, jazz, and tap. Davison has performed with Boulder Ballet, David Taylor Dance Theatre, Jan Justis Dance Company, Kim Robards Dance, and 3rd Law Dance/Theater. From 2004 to 2015 he was Co-Artistic Director of Boulder Ballet. His choreography has been shown on companies throughout Colorado. Since 1990 he has toured his performances with animate objects around the US as well as in Spain and Finland with additional television performances in the US. Also an active educator, Peter has presented workshops in public schools, been in residence at festivals in Colorado as well as circus schools in France and Quebec. He is a faculty member of Boulder Ballet School, has taught multi-disciplinary movement, and founded the unique Boyz Dance program that introduces male students to dance through physical theater and object manipulation. For 15 years he has been the emcee at the Denver Ballet Guild’s Showcase of Dance. In 2015, Davison joined with Jennifer Aiken to found Objectivity Dance Theater which mixes concert dance, physical theater, and circus artistry.
