Biographical / Historical
Yunyu Wang, born in Taiwan, is a founding dancer of Cloud Gate Theatre, the first professional modern dance company in Taiwan. She was on the faculty of Colorado College (CC) from 1991 to 2012 and is a Professor Emerita. At CC, she was director of the Dance Troup from 1991 to 2005 and was active in exchanges between dancers in Taiwan and the US. She lectured on the history and artistry of modern dance and Chinese dance in the Colorado Springs school district reaching over 700 students. As a professional Laban Notator and Teacher, Wang reconstructed historic masterworks at CC and Colorado State University. From 1994 to 2000 she served on the Board of Congress on Research in Dance. She has directed a $1.5 million dance technology project to understand human body motion and emotion, sold patents for the health industry, written articles about female choreographers, human rights, and for the elderly and community, and has served as the Chief Production Director of 2017 Universiade. Wang is currently the CEO of Chinlin Foundation for Arts and Culture and the Distinguished Professor at Beijing Dance Academy.
