Abstract

This series includes annual reports from various entities related to the Office of Business and Financial Affairs. There are Annual Reports of the Treasurer which were presented to the Board of Trustees (copies in this series are the third copies held by the University, the first copy is in the Board of Trustees Collection (U114) and the second copies are in the Special Collections closed stacks). There are also annual reports that originated from the Office of Business and Financial Affairs or one of the offices housed within it such as the Bookstore, computer center, purchasing, mail services, telephone, plant operations, and other departments.

Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

This collection contains materials related to the responsibilities of and created by the University of Denver's Office of Business and Financial Affairs. Their primary role is to oversee the financial management, business operators, and built environment of the University. Thus, materials in this collection mostly cover the following topics: annual reports, real estate, budget, bonds and loans, agreements and contracts, and internal materials. This collection can be added to in the future.

Arrangement

There are two types of annual reports in this series.

There are Annual Reports of the Treasurer which were written by the Treasurer and presented to the Board of Trustees. For much of the University's history, the Treasurer was a member of the Board of Trustees and worked in close collaboration with them. Since at least the 1948 Board of Trustees By-Laws, the Treasurer no longer had to be a member of the Board of Trustees. Although it did still occur this way sometimes. Since around the 1980s, it has become increasingly common for the DU Treasurer to be the same person as the Vice Chancellor of Business and Financial Affairs, although this is not required.

As the Annual Reports of the Treasurer are presented to the Board of Trustees, the Annual Reports of the Treasurer from 1922-1950 that are located in this series constitute the third copy of these reports that the University of Denver Archives has in its collections. Other copies of the Annual Reports of the Treasurer, including years not found in this box, can be located in the Board of Trustees Record Collection (U114) Box 50 (U114.13.0050) or in the Closed Stacks of the DU Special Collections and Archives.

The other type of annual reports included in this series are those that originated from the Office of Business and Financial Affairs or one of the offices housed within it.
