Abstract
Box contains paper documents from Engelman's time fighting in Viet Nam:
One (1) safe conduct pass and two (2) copies
One (1) Vietnamese-English phrasebook
One (1) certification saying Engelmann was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal from the Department of the Air Force
One (1) certification saying that Engelmann was awarded the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Bronze Star for Valor for participating in a mission. This item was captioned in an exhibit: "This citation for one of the highest Vietnamese military awards is a lie. I never took part in this mission. These "morale medals" were often created by the Vietnamese to cover botched or fictitious actions for American advisor team members and special groups operating in the Mekong Delta. Those "enemy" killed, often were unfortuante civilians in the wrong place at the wrong time. Body-count was inflated by the ARVN." (See Container 15).
One (1) map of Viet Nam from Trao to An Tan, with some notes on Vietnamese phrases on the back
One (1) sleeve of photographs: two of housing and one of a metal fan. One reads "Back of CRM Do hotel, Roch Gia, Kim Giang Prov. VN, spring 1969, by Ted Engelmann
