Scope and Contents
This series consists primarily of annual convention syllabi produced for the Universal Round Dance Council and International Choreographed Ballroom Dance Association, dating from the first convention. Syllabi are present for 1977-2007 in physical form and 1977-2012 as PDFs on CD (which includes the 1978-2012 newsletters as well). Also included are some ephemera items, mostly daily convention programs, and a newspaper clipping about the 2001 convention in San Jose, CA. Convention syllabi include content such as letters from hosting mayors and the current organization president, committee names and pictures, lists of board members and committee chairs, award notices, top dance lists, biographies with photos of teachers, complete program descriptions and schedules, names of performance groups, vendor lists, clinic workshop notes. Much of each syllabus is devoted to cue sheets for popular dances to be done at the convention. All but one were removed from their original bindings prior to receipt and pages were individually numbered by a previous holder. Of particular note are the syllabus for the first convention, sponsored by the National Carousel Clubs, the advertising flyer for that convention, and a count of registration versus attendance by state from the second convention.
