Abstract

Sally Donavik (Mrs. Sam) Friedman talks about her husband's family business, Friedman's Store, a grocery store, and life in Brighton, Colo. Daughter Carol J. (Mrs. Allen) Groussman, who grew up in Brighton with her sister Donna (Mrs. Howard Lutz), discusses Jewish life in a small Colo. town.

Sally’s family came to Denver for the climate since her mother had asthma. Sally went to Denver Schools. Married Sam Friedman, moved to Brighton, CO and ran a...
grocery store. Sam had been at DU but had to return to Brighton to help run the family business as it grew. Only a handful of Jewish families. Father in Law also came to Colorado for health reasons. Experience with the Klu Klux Klan in Colorado. Sally’s daughter, Carol Friedman Grossman, talks about growing up in Brighton with few other Jewish families. Experiences with antisemitism and how they worked to fit into a Christian Community. Going to Denver for religious education.
