Abstract

Judge Donald H. Meyer, the son of Morris Meyer, describes the early life of the Meyer brothers, Morris, Sam, Max, and Charles, who emigrated from Poland in the late 1800s. He talks about his father Morris' early business efforts in Wisconsin as well as his father's marriage to his mother, a German immigrant. He also recounts the couple's move to Colorado after his father was diagnosed with tuberculosis. He further describes the migration of his father's... brothers to Colorado, and the Meyer stores that the family established in towns such as Rocky Ford, Fort Collins, and Greeley, Colo. in the early 1900s. He also discusses his own career. Meyer held many positions, including Deptuty District Attorney for the City and County of Denver, Assistant Attorney General for the State of Colorado, and Administrative Law Judge for the U.S. Dept. of Health, Education and Welfare, Bureau of Hearings and Appeals.
