Inscription and Marks

Typed on front of memo: ''The Changing Scene 1527.5 Champa Street, Denver CO 80202, Mr. Alfred Brooks, (303) 893-5775. For Release, Dances Debut at the Changing Scene. ''Big Sky, Little Dances,'' a premier performance of new dance and music will be presented at the Changing Scene in downtown Denver, May 8-9 at 8:30 p.m and May 10 at 2:00 p.m. A reception immediately follows Sunday's matinee. The new dances range from shocking to ephemeral in the first time collaboration of choreographers Nancy Smith Hall, Katharine Kaufman, and Peg Volpe. New music by composers Fred Hess, Otto Koch, Elisa Randall and Erling Wold is also featured. Dancers include Suzanne Fattor, Karen Kuddes, and Pam Vagnieres. ''The Disquiet,'' choreographed by Ms. Hall explores unfulfilled yearning and obsession. Ms. Kaufman's ''The Accidental Tourist'' pokes fun at shopping mall mentality. ''The Last Dance,'' a solo by Ms. Kaufman, portrays consequences of internal and external destruction. Ms. Volpe's ''From a White Place''combines elements of lyrical and percussive movement juxtaposed with sculpted ethereal movements to describe a score composed by Fred Hess and a painting by Georgia O'Keefe. ''Calling Far,'' a solo by Volpe, is inspired by the painting ''Forgotten Treasures'' by Doris Volpe and thoughts of distance, time and nostalgia. In the lobby gallery, mural size photographs by Glenn Arndt. Reservations may be made by telephone at 893-5775, $6.''
