Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble at Chautuaqua [sic] Auditorium August 22nd. KVOD welcomes the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble who will perform a full concert for the first time ever in Boulder on Friday August 22nd at the Chautuaqua [sic] Auditorium on 9th and Baseline. A predominantly black troupe based in Denver, the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble has gained national recognition for its outstanding energy and versatility in performances throughout the world. However, while they have received such honors as being one of two American companies to represent Black dance in the Second Annual World Black and Africa Festival of Arts and Culture as well as being on a Gordon Parks Special on West German Public Television and have performed all over the United States, in Central America and in Africa, this concert at Chautauqua will be the first time the Ensemble has performed a full concert in Boulder. Comprised of nine dancers, the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble recently brought down the house at the Colorado Dance Festival's ''Dance 4 Colorado'' at the Paramount Theatre in Denver with their performance of ''Rain Dance.'' The Ensemble will perform this show-stopper at Chautauqua. In this dance, men and women alike wear full-length red skirts to perform whirling movements to the music of Jean-Michel Jarre. ''The only problem,'' says Cleo Robinson, the director of the Ensemble, ''is, it has seemed to rain in every town we have performed it in.'' In addition, the Ensemble will perform ''Earth, Wind and Fire,'' a jazz dance number set to the music of Earth, Wind and Fire, Prince, and the New World Symphony. The Ensemble will also perform ''Spiritual Suite'' which is danced to live gospel music performed by Denver's #1 gospel group ''''Gospel Renaissance'' who have been a Boulder favorite when the have performed at the annual Gospel Extravaganza at Chautauqua. Tickets are available now at all Datatix outlets, at Sachsel's Books on the Boulder mall, at H.B. Woodsong's and at the Chautauqua office. The performance begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10. ***Photos, features, interviews, further biographical information and reviews are available on request. Please don't hesitate to call. 443-2587 (Ginger Perry).''
