Biographical / Historical

Beulah Cherne grew up in Ordway, Colorado. After graduation from Sugar City, CO High School in 1934, she attended Colorado State College of Education (now University of Northern Colorado) in Greeley, graduating with a degree in Business and Economics and minor in English and Social Studies in June of 1938. She met her husband-to-be, Howard Cherne shortly thereafter in Denver. She criss-crossed the country with Howard during the war years following all his assignments supervising construction projects at Army bases and munitions plants. Upon wars’ end, Beulah and Howard settled in Denver, and Howard began building homes and she teaching business classes at Denver’s West High School. Beulah embraced her role as mother, and while not employed, she took on a lifelong passion for philanthropy and service work, dedicating herself not only to the nurturing of her family but contributing countless hours and ceaseless energy to social, educational and artistic endeavors. Not content to be a volunteer, she often served on boards and as president of these many organizations. Beulah also had a passion for both travel and the arts of all types – performing, visual, and musical.
