Herbert A. Howe 1884 Diary, 1884
Abstract
Professor Howe's diary for 1884 recounts his brief weather and astronomical observations, teaching activities at the University of Denver, participation in events in University Park and elsewhere in Denver, his family and religious life. He was awarded a D.Sc. from Boston University for work in mathematics. On December 23 he married Fannie Shattuck, the 23-year old eldest daughter of the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, Joseph C. Shattuck. A brief mention of the wedding appears on that date, and a list of gifts along with his and his new wife's extended descriptions of the event appear in notes at the end.
