Abstract

Professor Howe's diary for 1909 recounts his brief weather and astronomical observations, administrative and teaching activities at the University of Denver, entertainment of visitors to the Chamberlin Observatory, participation in events in University Park and elsewhere in Denver, as well as his family and religious life. Special mention is made of: building foot bridges across the irrigation ditch along Warren Avenue, and a boardwalk across the... Howes' front lawn; entertainment of visitors in town for the National Education Association's meeting in July; opening of the new Carnegie Library at the University; and observing Halley's Comet from October on.
