Abstract

''The Ballad of Baby Doe'' cast, dramatists, musicians, and directors take a bow after a performance at the Central City Opera House in Central City, Colorado. Front row, left to right: Douglas Moore (composer), Emerson Buckley (music director), Walter Cassel (baritone, portrayed Horace Tabor), Martha Lipton (mezzo-soprano, portrayed Augusta Tabor), Dolores Wilson (soprano, portrayed Elizabeth ''Baby Doe'' Tabor), John Latouche (librettist), Hanya Holm (co-director and choreographer), unidentified. The Central City Opera House was the site of the 1956 world premiere of the opera ''The Ballad of Baby Doe.''
