Abstract

Two Central City affiliates take down the bill board for the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company and replace it with a billboard advertising 'Bus Stop.' The D'oyly Carte bill board reads, " central City Opea House Assn. presents twenty-fourth annual opera festival July 2- July 20, 1955. Direct from London, England, The D'Oyly Carte Opera Company in Sir Willam Gilbert's and Sir Arthur Sullivan's immortal operas 'The Mikado,' 'The Yeoman of the Guard,' 'Trial... by Jury,' 'H.M.S. Pinafore,' 'Iolanthe.' Musical director Isodore Godfrey, assistant musical director and chorus master Willaim Cox-ife, director of productions Robert Gibson." The 'Bus Stop' billboard reads, ' Central City Opera House Assn. and Whitehead-Stevens productions Inc. present twenty-fourth annual play festival August 6-September 3, 1955. 'Bus Stop' by William Inge co-strarring Peggy Ann Garner and Albert Salmi (rest of board covered by Central City affiliate).'
