Caption reads: 'A reporter for NBC radio interviewed Frank 'Rick' Ricketson on opening night in an undated photo. from 1943 to 1964 Riketson served as president of the Opera House Association, hand-picked by festival co-founder Anne Evans to be her successor. A movie marketing genius who filled theaters during the Depression by rafflin off prizes, evan cars and houses, Ricketson applied his same marketing savvy to the Central City Opera Festival. He kept its name in the papers and on the airwaves, garnering both local and national attention.'
