Abstract

Members of the Assembly of Captive European Nationas (ACEN) award their 10th anniversary commemorative medal to Sen. Dominick (R-Colo.) on September 30th, 1964. Pictured left to right are Jozef Lettrich of Czechoslovakia, Dr. George M. Dimitrov of Bulgaria, Senator Dominick, and Aleksander Kutt of Estonia. Senator Dominick holds a medal in his right hand. The certificate that he holds in his left hand reads The Assembly of Captive European Nations Awards Their Tenth Anniversary Commemorative Medal to The Honorable Peter H. Dominick, U.S. Senator, In Recognition of Outstanding [illegible] for the Cause of Freedom in East Central Europe. NEW YORK September 30 , 1964. Below the date are signatures [illegible] of the Chairman and the Secretary General. On the left of the certificate is a list of the nine nations represented by the assembly; Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Romania. The Assembly of Captive European Nations was composed of refugees from Eastern European countries who worked to free member nations from Communist dictatorships. Senator Dominick supported efforts to prevent the spread of communism during his tenure in Congress.
