Abstract

Album of 125 mounted photographs from Switzerland, France, the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Italy, 54 relating to winter sports in St. Moritz. Other scenes include yachting in Cannes, holidays in Rome, Castel Gandolfo and Peruga. The sequence begins in the winter of 1908-1909, and ends in July 1911. With a loose menu card in French from the Palace Hôtel (St. Moritz? Lucerne?), showing an 11-course meal for February 6, 1909. The card (folded to 13 x 15 cm.) is autographed by around 25 fellow diners, and features an engraving by Frank Kingsley of four women skating in a light snow shower. Also includes a loose single photograph of a man taking a bath while seated in a washtub.
