Burning Me Open : [Assembly Jig], 2011
Abstract
Tool for assembling pages of the artist's book, Burning Me Open. The jig consists of a 3/32 inch sheet of cast acrylic with three holes in the binding side, and three brads with which to align the page elements. The rigid pages that make up the text block are constructed of several layers, a sandwich (from the bottom up) of etched cast acrylic, shaped copper leaf with adhesive on both sides and etched cast acrylic. Copper tape is wrapped around the outer perimeter of each page. The book is coptic sewn across the spine with dyed and waxed 4-ply linen thread. The artist's explanation of its use is handwritten on an inserted card.
