Report from Washington. United States wheat sale to Soviet Union, 1965
Abstract
Senator Peter H. Dominick (R-Colo.) delivers his weekly radio address, Report from Washington, in 1965. Sen. Dominick discusses the 1963 decision to sell surplus wheat to the Soviet Union (U.S.S.R.), including the guarantee of credit by the Export-Import Bank, Congressional opposition to the sale of subsidized wheat to communist nations, as well as his support of a presidential directive requiring that the wheat be delivered by United States Merchant Marine ships. He reiterates his view that Communist countries should make political concessions in return for trade of non-strategic goods.
