Report from Washington. Medicare, 1963 April 9
Abstract
Senator Peter H. Dominick (R-Colo.) delivers his weekly radio address, Report from Washington, on April 9, 1963. Sen. Dominick discusses how the timing of passage of legislation in Congress can be politically motivated, with legislation either being delayed or introduced when it will win the most support. Dominick says that this is the case with the Medicare bill, which he states could be delayed until 1964 to use as an issue in the presidential election. Dominick also explains his opposition to the bill, saying that federal financial assistance for medical care should be based on need, rather than just being provided to anyone 65 or older.
