Report from Washington. Hijacking Bill, 1962 August 8
Abstract
Congressman Peter H. Dominick (R-Colo.) delivers his weekly radio address, Report from Washington, on August 10, 1961. Rep. Dominick discusses the reaction in Congress to the recent rise in hijacking attempts against U. S. aircraft, saying that he has introduced a bill that would make crimes committed aboard an aircraft a federal offense. He notes that Congress is debating whether the death sentence or life imprisonment should be the appropriate penalty for airplane hijackings, and discusses why there is justification for blaming Fidel Castro for the increase in these crimes.
