Newspaper clipping taped to back of photo: ''Gergrude H. Beggs. Funeral services were held last week at Rolla, Mo. for Dr. Gertrude H. Beggs, 77, former Denver schoolteacher who died April 11 in Boulder. For many years she had maintained a home at Lyons, Colo., but moved to Boulder recently. She was a University of Denver graduate, and in 1893 taught Latin at North High school later teaching at Ashland school. She was awarded her doctor's degree in Greek by Yale university in 1904. She held teaching positions at D.U., the University of Michigan, Earlham college and the University of Richmond. During a leave of absence from Richmond she taught in China. She was a member of Pi Bata Phi, Phi Beta Kappa, Mortar Board and the American Philological association.'' Handwritten on back: ''Buiilt the house that Alfred Rufus King bought 2200 block on So. Fillmore.'' and ''When Dean of Women at University of Minnesota, I think.''
