Abstract

Adolf Goldhammer was born 1847 in Hungary and immigrated to Denver, Colorado in 1885 with his wife Betta and sons Abe and Jacob. He operated a liquor store and saloon hall that was often used as a meeting place for the Jewish community to hold meetings, plays and other cultural events. Collection consists of one stoneware whiskey jug from Adolf Goldhammer Wholesale Wines and Liquors. Painted in blue on front: "Adolf Goldhammer Wholesale Wines and Liquors 2633 W. Colfax Ave. Phone Main 7761 - - Denver, Colo."
