Biographical / Historical
The "Half the Sky Fair" is named after a Chinese proverb (Women hold up half the sky) and is also inspired by a book written by Nick Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn. Held during the annual Women's Conference, it is an international market where purchases benefit nonprofit organizations that support women and girls; wares include entertainment, food, and handcrafted gift items created by women entrepreneurs from around the world.
