Abstract

Ernest Morris was born in Thorn, Germany and came to the United States as a child. He graduated from the University of Colorado with degrees in philosophy and law. He was a board member of the Colorado Historical Association for two decades and was president from 1932 through 1936. His unpublished manuscript "Gathering Much" covers his early life and legal career. While he was chairman of the Denver County Council of Defense during WWI, he charged the Denver Post with libelous attacks. The case was settled out of court, the Denver Post retracting all charges and donating $10,000 to charity. The manuscript also contains stories of western history and the Colorado Historical Association.
