World War I Posters Collection
Collection
Identifier: M438
Abstract
A collection of World War I posters advertising Liberty bonds and loans, as well as U.S. Government War Saving Stamps (W.S.S.) and Treasury savings certificates. Collection contains prints and lithographs from roughly 1918-1919. These posters would have been seen by the public on building exteriors and city streets, in office buildings and postal centers, even in schools. The posters introduced the idea of investing in government issued financial securities to many citizens for the first time.
