Biographical / Historical
The Spirituals project was formally founded as an educational, non-profit organization by Arthur C. Jones in 1998. However, programs, events, and activities had been occuring several years before in community, church, and conference settings. The purpose of The Spirituals Project is to provide a holistic education about spirituals in order to preserve cultural histories. The Spirituals Project was officially transitioned into the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music in 2016, and continues to host educational programs regionally and nationally.
