Biographical / Historical

Elizabeth Firth was born in 1884 in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. Her initial acting appearances were in New York in 1903, after which she sailed to London to work under contract to George Edwardes. Firth acted as an understudy for Evie Greene in a number of productions at the Lyric Theatre. Firth is best known for playing Natalie in the 1907 London production of The Merry Widow, an adaptation of a German operetta. She remained in the acting business for several years after that success, retiring after 1911.
