Alpha Epsilon Delta (Colorado Beta Chapter) Records
Abstract
Alpha Epsilon Delta (ΑΕΔ) is a U.S. health preprofessional honor society. The University of Denver chapter (Colorado Beta) started in 1965 from the local pre-med honorary Mu Beta Kappa. The chapter of this international organization lasted at least until the mid 1980s, but is no longer active on campus. Collection contains information on early membership, a large folder for the 1970 national convention hosted by DU, constitutions, a premedical handbook for students produced by organization and more.

Biographical / Historical
Alpha Epsilon Delta (ΑΕΔ) started as a premedical honor society in 1926 at the University of Alabama and is now the world's largest preprofessional health honors society. Two women were initiated in 1929 making ΑΕΔ one of the earliest co-ed honors societies. The University of Denver chapter (Colorado Beta) was installed on May 22, 1965 from the previous local honorary pre-medical society, Mu Beta Kappa. Dr. William Driscoll, chairman of the Zoology department, served as the faculty advisor. The University of Denver hosted the 18th national Alpha Epsilon Delta convention in 1970. The DU chapter lasted at least until the mid 1980's but is no longer active.
