Biographical / Historical

Sigma Chi is one of the largest North American fraternal organizations with 244 active chapters and 152 alumni chapters in the United States and Canada. Sigma Chi was founded in 1855 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, by members splitting off from the older Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. The University of Denver Chapter, Delta Iota, was established in 1947. As of 2022, the chapter is still active on campus. Derby Days is a week-long charitable event held by Sigma Chi chapters for the Huntsman Cancer Foundation.
