Denver Institute and College of Jewish Studies Records
Abstract
The Denver Institute of Jewish Studies was established in 1963 to streamline adult Jewish studies throughout East Denver. There had been a frequent overlap and lack of organization between the synagogues that offered courses. The Institute worked to coordinate and streamline adult educational programs. It is an independent non-profit organization, but collaborates with the Rocky Mountain Rabbinical Council. The courses rotate between the BMH, Temple Emanuel and Temple Sinai. Rabbi Daniel Goldberger, who had been the rabbi of Beth Joseph. was the first Dean of the Institute. The classes and special convocations cover all aspects of the Jewish Experience. Collection contains administrative papers, by-laws, articles of incorporation, correspondence and class semester files from the Denver Institute of Jewish Studies. The Denver Institute for Jewish Studies Records, B432, contain more recent files donated by Michael Levin.
