Phi Epsilon Phi (PEP) Fraternity Records

 Collection
Identifier: U398

Abstract

This collection objects material objects from Phi Epsilon Phi (PEP), an honorary pep fraternity at University of Denver, founded in 1933. DU's chapter (Beta) was modeled off the organization of the same name at University of Colorado, Boulder, but PEP did not become a national organization. According to the 1933 "D" Book Guide to Students, membership to PEP was only available to upper classmen and was based on "high scholarship, consistent school spirit, activities and potentional leadership. Its work is to help and control freshmen, to put in demonstrations during football games, to assist officials during athletic contests and to promote general school spirit." The corresponding pep organization for women was called Parakeets, formed in 1926.

Collection includes a fraternity paddle and a letter sweater.
