Abstract
The Hispanic National Bar Association established 1972. The Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) is a not-for-profit, nonpartisan, national membership organization that represents the interests of Hispanic legal professionals in the United States and its territories.
The records held by the University of Denver include Board of Directors records, incorporation documents, convention and conference materials, HNBA Presidential communications, and a small amount of material culture. Copies of the HNBA newsletter Noticias are being collected to be cataloged separately in the University of Denver special collections stacks.

Biographical / Historical
The Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) is a not-for-profit, nonpartisan, national membership organization that represents the interests of Hispanic legal professionals in the United States and its territories. The HNBA is also committed to advocacy on issues of importance to the Hispanic community living in the United States.
Founded initially as the La Raza National Lawyers Association (LRNLA) in 1971, the first Board of Governer's Meeting took place in October of 1972, and incorporated as a non-profit in California. The founding members were Mario G. Obledo, Hon. Cruz Reynoso, Louis Garcia, Miguel Angel Mendez, Al Gonzalez, Hon. Lorenzo Arredondo, John Huerta and Donato Tapia.
Nationally, the organization is directed by the HNBA Board of Governors, which consists of executive officers (elected by HNBA members), the 19 regional presidents, and the presidents of over 30 affiliate organizations across the country. As the National Voice of the Hispanic Legal Community, the HNBA also has multiple councils, divisions, sections and committees dedicated to advancing the interests of its members, as well as addressing substantive legal issues that impact the Hispanic community and the nation.
